Shackled and bound in accordance with the words we speak. Restrained, tied down to inhibitions that go up in smoke and disappear. What is there to gain when there's nothing left to give? What is there to gain if you won't teach yourself the truth? Fire a warning shot. Hang it overhead. Suspended with secret stars shouting out loud in the dark. Fire a warning shot. Strike fear into the hearts of men. Suspended with a cloud of guilt that follows until the end. Timing is everything when losing patience is a lot to lose. Dismiss the one that you once were. Embrace the one you have become. Never look back.

These days don't have much to offer us anymore. There was a time when nothing needed to be said. Now the noise is deafening and it's drowning out what little was left. I once heard what I wanted to hear in sync, in tune, in you. Accumulate the years adjusting pitch in sync, in tune, in you. I once heard what I wanted. A soft voice struggling to be sincere. It made the comfort noise that caught my ear. Now a weak voice struggling to be sincere. You make the comfort noise that no one can hear.

Ten hours apart from a steady heart. Blood supply is slowing and the worst has yet to come. No one wants to die alone outside the few that know what it's like to live forever. A dotted line marks the decline. Each incision cuts closer leaving our chances further away. No one wants to say goodbye outside the few that know what it's like to live forever. Turn the lights off. Pull the sheets over our heads. What is attachment without anything to hold onto? A familiar taste. Our long embrace. Old friends each time we meet. It's not enough. Old friends still on repeat. I'm giving up.
